Yahoo! begins advertising its web-based search service on national television. The ads, which feature the tag line “Do You Yahoo?”, first air during Late Night with David Letterman, Saturday Night Live, and Star Trek.

The first ROFLCon is held April 25th and 26th at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). ROFLCon is the first internet culture conference. The purpose of the event is to discuss internet memes and celebrate internet culture. The event is attended by a number of what are referred to as “Net celebrities,” including the creators of Dinosaur comics, Questionable Content, and xkcd, as well as Leeroy Jenkins,moot, and “The Tron Guy.” Read more at The Guardian, The LA Times, NPR, or Wired News.
