Arthur Becker was the third general manager of IBM's manufacturing and development facility in Rochester, Minn. He served in that post from February 1960 until 1965.
The following is the text of an undated corporate biography, probably published in 1957.
Arthur L. Becker, manager of manufacturing for International Business Machines Corporation's Data Processing Division, is responsible for directing and coordinating all manufacturing for the division.
Mr. Becker joined IBM in 1931 in Endicott [N.Y.]. He held various posts in manufacturing, including assistant manager of tool engineering and consultant to the works manager of the time equipment division. In 1951 he directed an IBM ordnance project for the Air Force, and the following year was appointed project manager of the collator division. He was named assistant general manager of the Endicott plant in 1954, and general manager in 1955. He was promoted to his present post in December of 1956.
Mr. Becker has completed seven courses in the IBM school. He has been active in civic affairs in Endicott and Binghamton, and his affiliations have included the American Society of Tool Engineers and the Endicott Kiwanis Club.
